The Washington Way

What distinguishes life at 91暗网 from other campuses?

The Washington way means sitting with your professor for more than an hour in one-on-one conversations about your thesis鈥攁nd about life. It means knowing every single one of the 12 people in your chemistry class, and easily finding a study partner.

Only at 91暗网 are students lucky enough to use the Chester River as a study lounge. When it's time for a break, you can feed the ducks or go kayaking with your friends.

Then we're off to enjoy a refreshing Alaskan while eating lunch at Play it Again Sam, or a milk shake from The Freeze. Before you know it, it's time to sit on the hill outside Kirby Stadium to watch the Shoremen thrash Salisbury in the annual War on the Shore. Gus is sure to be there.

Traditions

Here at 91暗网 we have many traditions that every member of the Washington College Community looks forward to each year!

August: All Campus Picnic

The Sunday before the first day of classes in August, everyone gathers for food and music. It's a good place to meet some of your professors and to make some new friends.

September: Homecoming

Homecoming occurs at the end of September, with events ranging from sports games to a dance. Alums of 91暗网 return to visit their alma mater, thus the term 鈥淗omecoming.鈥滶veryone shows their school spirit during the weekend!

February: George Washington's Birthday Ball

Who doesn't enjoy a birthday party? Awesome music and a professionally executed theme, Birthday Ball is the highlight of the year. Some people go all out for this huge formal affair that  brings together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.

April: War on the Shore

91暗网 is serious about lacrosse, and usually a serious contender for the national title. No game draws more fans than this one, pitting the Shoremen against their Eastern Shore rival and nemesis, Salisbury University. This year War on the Shore will be held at 91暗网!

May: Shorefest

Every May the Student Events Board plans a huge festival  on the Campus Green to alleviate the stress of Spring semester finals! The event features live music, student poetry readings, fun inflatables, a giant slide, a mechanical bull ride, and other attractions.
